Outsourced and Managed Clinical Services

Clinical delivery from alternative approved setting

When existing NHS capacity cannot meet patient demand within required timeframes, The Medical and Diagnostic Care Group can assume full clinical and operational responsibility for a defined patient cohort or pathway and deliver care from an alternative approved setting. We manage the complete journey — from clinical validation and patient selection through to booking, treatment, results management and follow-up — with robust escalation, repatriation and governance frameworks in place throughout.

The Challenges We Help Address

  • NHS estate is fully utilised with no additional space available for in-house activity
  • Theatre or diagnostic capacity is unavailable within the client’s own facilities
  • Workforce vacancies prevent additional activity from being delivered in-house
  • A complete patient cohort needs to be transferred to achieve the required recovery pace
  • Insourcing alone will not deliver the volume or speed of recovery needed
  • A defined patient group requires treatment within a guaranteed timeframe
  • The client requires clear per-patient or pathway-based pricing and accountability
  • Weekend or extended-day capacity is needed beyond what the Trust estate can support

Delivery Models

End-to-end outsourced pathway
MDCG assumes full responsibility for a defined patient cohort from validation through discharge. The NHS contract remains with MDCG, and all clinical, operational, and governance accountability rests with us throughout.
Outsourced diagnostics
Diagnostic activity at an alternative approved site, including hospitals, community facilities, or mobile units.
Day-case and surgical pathways
Elective surgeries are performed at an approved independent-sector hospital. MDCG supplies the clinical team, while the facility partner provides the operating environment.
Hybrid outsourced model
Assessment or consultation at one site, treatment or procedure at another—combining NHS and independent-sector settings in a single, governed pathway.
Weekend and extended-day services
Clinic and theatre sessions outside of core hours — maximising the use of existing estate and equipment to accelerate recovery.

Delivery Settings

  • Independent hospitals and private hospital partners
  • Dedicated outpatient facilities
  • Community diagnostic settings
  • Mobile diagnostic facilities
  • Hybrid client and external estate models
